(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — Central Missouri junior golfer Cy Moritz has been named the MIAA Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Brickyard Collegiate Invitational at Brickyard Crossing Golf Club in Indianapolis, Ind., according to a press release.
Moritz shot rounds of 74, 70 and 70 to finish at two-under par and in a tie for third at the tournament. He helped lead the 15th-ranked Mules to a runner-up finish with a team score of six-under par. UCM finished two shots out of first, which was taken by defending national champion and No. 1 ranked Barry University. The Mules beat national runner-up Nova Southeastern by 17 shots in the team standings and finished in front of eight ranked teams.
Moritz is a native of Owensville, Mo. where he competed at Owensville High School.
