Bertha Louise Houx

Bertha Louise Houx, 92, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 2 at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Pastor Paula Isgrig of New Horizon Presbyterian Church in Odessa officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Jenkins, Cory Vogler, Nick Ziegler, Denny Houx, Travis Jenkins, Donnie Hayes and Cole Steelman in absentia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Vogler, Dax Vogler, Chase Vogler, Tim Taylor, Bill Eppright, Glen Bailes, Bill Turnbow and John Voglerand.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bertha was born March 25, 1921, in Warrensburg, the daughter of William and Marguerite (Woods) Lehnert. She was united in marriage to Robert Bruce Houx on Nov. 18, 1941, in Warrensburg. She worked for Mattingly Brothers for four years. During the war, Bertha worked for North America and War Battery. Later, she and Robert owned and operated West Pine Café. She was a member of Jacoby Chapel.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Steelman and husband, Ronnie, of Odessa, Mo.; and Barbara Bonner and husband, Jerry, of Lowry City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Cindy Jenkins and husband, Steve, of Leeton, Mo.; Cory Vogler of Centerview, Mo.; and Allison Steelman and husband, Nick Ziegler of Odessa, Mo.; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; grandson, Cole Steelman; and two sisters, Helen Marguerite Lehnert in infancy and Pearl Erline Houx.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cole Steelman Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
