(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) – Mike Watts is a local business owner of a small tree service company, a lifelong resident of Warrensburg and a City Council candidate.

The council has two open seats and four candidates on the April 8 ballot. Joining Watts on the ballot are Casey Renfrow, Robin Allen and Don Butterfield.

Watts said he wants to bring his residential and business owning experience to the table if elected to the City Council.

“I am running for City Council to bring common sense, business friendly ideas to Warrensburg,” he said. “I believe that Warrensburg has become stagnant in terms of business growth, while we see cities such as Sedalia growing at a steady rate.”

Not only does Watts run his own business, which is in its fifth year, he also communicates with other local business owners in the Warrensburg area.

“I have spoken with many business owners, community leaders and Warrensburg citizens who have come to the conclusion that there are actions that could be taken to improve and grow Warrensburg’s business community,” Watts said. “And I believe that it starts with good communication.”

Watts said he wants to use the ideas he’s generated from communicating with local citizens and put them into action.

“With those ideas, I plan on constructing and implementing a strong, common sense, business friendly strategy to move Warrensburg forward,” he said. “I pride myself on being completely open and available to the people.”
