Mateo set for NCAA-II Championships

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) – Mules redshirt-sophomore wrestler Eric Mateo is set to begin competition in the NCAA-II Wrestling Championships Friday, March 8 at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham.

Mateo will face Indianapolis’ Justin Kieffer at 11 a.m. Friday in the opening round. Kieffer comes into the championships with a record of 17-9 while Mateo is 21-19.

Mateo placed third at 141 pounds in the NCAA-II Super Region II Tournament two weeks ago in Ashland, Ohio to earn a berth to the championships.
