Eunice B. Boyd, 88 of Springfield, Mo. died Monday, Jan. 27, at Harmony Gardens Assisted Living in Warrensburg where she lived for the past several months.
Eunice was born May 1, 1925 in Hoisington, Kan., the daughter of Theodore R. and Viola B. (Hainline) Wise. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to a farm near Warsaw. She attended school at Climax Springs, eventually graduating from Warsaw High School. Eunice dreamed of being a teacher from the time she started kindergarten. At just 17, she taught at her first one room school. She continued to teach while attending college in Warrensburg during the summer months. She graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 1959.
Eunice was united in marriage to Wilbert Bill Boyd in 1962. The couple moved to St. Louis County where she resumed teaching. She retired after 35 years of service. Following retirement, Eunice resumed teaching for a time in the Pattonville School District and tutored students in her home. Eventually, she relocated to Springfield, where she made her home for nearly 25 years. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling throughout the country. Eunice also loved gardening, crocheting, embroidering and reading. Eunice was a faithful member of Campbell United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Kappa Kappa Iota Chapter.
Survivors include two sisters: Jean Rita Everts of Knob Noster, Mo. and Teddi Holley and husband, Allen, of Springfield, Mo.; plus several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and brother, Alvin Eugene Wise.
