Robert L. Collins, age 62, of Centerview, MO, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Western Missouri Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Grover Park Baptist Church in Warrensburg with Dr. Randall S. Neal and Pastor Jim Short officiating.
Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in West Plains, Mo.
The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the W.C. Baptist Association Summer Camp Scholarship Fund or the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in West Plains, Mo., and both can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Mo.
He was born February 2, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Harold and Ora (Belle) Collins.
On August 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Brenda Brown in West Plains, Mo.
Robert was a graduate of West Plains High School in West Plains, Mo., class of 1970. He then attended Southwest Missouri State University in West Plains, Mo. He received his Bachelor’s degree from William Jewel College in Liberty, Mo., in 1984. Robert then received his Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theology Seminary in 1992 in Kansas City, Mo., and was currently working on his doctrine in ministry. Robert was Director of Missions for West Central Baptist Association since 1997. He was former pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Warrensburg, the Pythian Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo., the First Baptist Church in Bunker, Mo., Missouri City Baptist Church in Missouri City, Mo., and Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Willow Springs, Mo.
Robert is survived by his wife Brenda; two daughters, Melinda Hunter and husband Jake of Columbia, Mo., and Mary Collins of Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alask.; one son, Matthew Collins and wife Kristen of Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alask.; three sisters, Judy Harden and husband Bill, and Shelia Keller, all of West Plains, Mo., and Tink Fulton and husband Josh of Granite City, Ill.; three brothers Harold, Sibley, and Joseph Collins, all of West Plains, Mo.; two brothers- in- law, Virgil Brown of Woodbridge, Va., and Bill Brown and wife Janet of Lake Stevens, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Lompis; and four grandchildren, Lisa Harley and husband Brian of Byron, Ga., and Katie Hunter of Columbia, Mo., Jack and Aubrey Collins of Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alask.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Collins; one niece Ada Shinohara; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Lompis and Leon Keller; one sister-in-law, Suki Collins: and father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Alma Brown.
