(LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo., digitalBURG) — The streets of downtown Lee’s Summit filled with people Friday for the opening day of the annual Downtown Days…Streets Alive! festival.

The festival is complete with food, games, rides, music and vendors.

The event takes place on the first full weekend in June, covering more than six city blocks centered at Third and Douglas streets in downtown Lee’s Summit.

Liberty Isabel rides the merry-go-round as her mother, Valarie, keeps hold of her. Both are from Raytown. Valarie said she enjoys taking her daughter to the festival and has been coming to Downtown Days for many years before her daughter was born.

By late evening, the streets of downtown Lee’s Summit are filled with thousands of guests illuminated by the glow of the festival lights.
