(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — The No. 13 Jennies soccer team (7-1-2) set a new school record with nine goals in a single game on route to a 9-1 victory over East Central on Sunday afternoon at Jennies Field, according to a press release.
Hannah Pyle recorded the first of three goals on the day in the 11th minute on an assist from Carly Stanley from the far side of the goalie box to put the score at 2-0 Central Missouri.
Pyle connected again in the 12th minute from an assist from Kayla Hamner on a look directly in front of the East Central net, giving UCM a 3-0 edge.
In the 29th minute Carly Stanley found Bailey Hensley on a pass to the front left of the goal, increasing the lead to 4-0.
Julie Ireland registered three of the next four goals in a span of nearly 13 minutes, two coming on assists from Bailey Hensley prior to the end of the half. Hensley was responsible for the other score in the 43rd minute, providing the Jennies with an 8-0 cushion at the half.
East Central would get on the scoreboard in the 70th minute on a goal from Kelsey Pickrell from the top of the box.
Pyle earned her third goal of the afternoon in the 85th minute on a cross across the box from Becky Lackey, setting the Jennies’ new single-game record with nine goals.
Abby Rhodes earned the win at goalkeeper to put her record at 1-0-0. She recorded eight saves on 11 shots faced.
The Jennies will face Missouri Southern on Thursday, October 10 at Jennies field, first kick at 7 p.m.
