Hot shooting propels Mules past Lincoln

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) — The Central Missouri Mules shot a season-high 60.4 percent from the field and routed Lincoln 89-61 on Wednesday night at Jason Gym. The win improves UCM’s record to 15-4 overall and 7-3 in MIAA play.

Both teams came out firing as they traded buckets through the first eight plus minutes of the first half. A 19-4 run midway through the half broke an 11-all tie and gave Central Missouri a 30-15 lead with 7:09 left in the half. The Mules extended the led to 19 at 44-25 with just under a minute left in the half before leading 44-28 at intermission.

The Mules stormed out of the gates in the second half as they opened up a 24-point advantage with 14:35 left in the game. A 17-6 run midway through the second half gave UCM a 76-43 lead with 8:37 to play as the Mules cruised to the 28-point victory.

Charles Hammork led four Mules in double figures with 15 points. Jordan Epps had 14 points, while Dillon Deck had 13 and TJ White finished with 10.

The Mules were 29 of 48 from the field for 60.4 percent. UCM was 4 of 13 from three-point range for 31 percent and made 27 of 40 at the foul line for 68 percent.

Lincoln shot 38 percent from the floor, 18 of 48 and made 10 of 27 from beyond the arc for 37 percent. The Blue Tigers were 15 of 21 at the charity stripe for 71 percent. Joshua Buie led LU with 14 points.

The Mules are back in action on Saturday afternoon hosting Lindenwood at 3:30 p.m. at the UCM Multipurpose Building. The game can be heard live on 1450 KOKO, 98.5 The Bar and warrensburgradio.com.
