The WHS golf team captured the district championship at the par 72 Adams Pointe Golf Course on Monday, shooting a team total of 322.
Nevada also qualified as a team, taking second overall with a 332.
“We had great conditions to play golf in and we had a very solid day on the golf course,” said coach Guy Albert.
Bailey Woods had a solid round of golf and took medalist honors with a low score of 74. He had a shaky front nine, shooting a 40 with a triple bogey but managed an eagle on 10 to shoot 2 under on the back side.
“I was impressed that he kept his cool and continued to manage his game after the triple,” Albert said. “JD Pedersen took third with an impressive 78 and continues to be a very good ball striker and gains confidence every time he plays.”
Stuart Duncan (84) and Brett Ballard (86) rounded out the team scoring.
The team plays again at the Sectional qualifier on Monday, May 12, at Paradise Point (Outlaw) hosted by Smithville. Two teams advance to state with the next best 12 individual scores.
