KMOV-TV (http://bit.ly/QlOXjw) reports that a recent audit of Bourbon, Missouri, shows that it violated a state law prohibiting cities from generating 30 percent or more of revenue from traffic tickets.

Mayor Leonard Armstrong says mistakes were made. He says officers will no longer write tickets on Interstate 44. The city also is cutting the size of its police force to save money and make up for the lost revenue.

Bourbon must pay to the state all money made from traffic tickets that exceeded the 30-percent limit.
