James Gilbert Dickenson, 79, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Golden Living Center in Clinton, Missouri.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1934. James was the youngest of 13 children born to Charles Alvin and Grace (Bartshe) Dickenson. He was raised on the family farm near Hermitage, Missouri. James married Karen J. Quick on Feb. 14, 1959. The couple raised their five children in Blairstown, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Jean Antes (Mark), Vicki Sweitzer (Chris), Grace Shumate (Mike Gibson) and son Stewart Dickenson (Sonja). James has 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robert Dickenson (Oma) and numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by one daughter, Jamie Huber, and eight brothers and three sisters.
James enjoyed visiting his family in Hermitage, fishing, playing cards and raccoon hunting. Over the years, he was employed by Butler Manufacturing in Kansas City, Royal Industries in Holden, Kelsey Feed and Grain in Urich, and Sherwood Cass R-8 School District in Creighton.
There will be no public funeral services. A private Celebration of Life is planned.
