Harlan Ross Norton

Harlan Ross Norton, 76, died Friday, Jan. 2, at home.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home in Holden.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Harlan was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Holton, Kan., the son of John James Norton and Anna Mae (Dyer) Norton. He married Ruth Irene (Whitehead) on June 22, 1996. Harlan lived in the Holden area for the past 36 years before moving to Warrensburg a few months ago. He retired as a truck driver for ABF, Kansas City, after 25 years. Harlan was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Holden.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Irene Norton, of Warrensburg; one son, Lester Norton, of Shelton, Washington; one daughter, Michele Copelin, of Independence, Missouri; two step-daughters, Kelly Rivera and Valerie Mcelfresh, both of Washington; one brother, Bob Norton, of Lincoln, Missouri; three sisters, Carrolle May, of Kansas; Judy Bryant, of California, Missouri; and Lorrainne Carlyle, of High Point, Missouri; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Mae, and two brothers, Jim Norton and Dennis Norton.
