Gertrude “Peggy” V. Moore

Gertrude “Peggy” V. Moore, 90, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of La Monte, Missouri, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the La Monte United Methodist Church with Pastor Gene Pastor and Pastor Debbie Arvelo officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hughes, Bob Thompson, Mark Jones, Larry Russell, Tom Hughes and John Drum.

Interment will follow at La Monte Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Moore Funeral Home in La Monte.

She was born March 21, 1924, in Stuttgart, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd Russell and Florence Caroline (Muller) Wagenknecht.

She was united in marriage to Paul M. Moore on Feb. 17, 1946, in Sedalia at the Fifth Street Methodist Church, now known as the Wesley Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2005.

Peggy worked as a bookkeeper for Central Missouri Rural Electric Coop for three years. She then worked as a funeral director at Moore Funeral Home in La Monte for several years and retired in 1974. Peggy helped with Chuck Wagon Meals for over 20 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Homemakers Club, a member of the La Monte United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women’s Fellowship.

Peggy is survived by two sons, Steve Moore and wife, Diana, of Knob Noster, Missouri; and Stan Moore and wife, Paulette, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Cassidy Rohr, Paula Moore, Kristin Kali and Michael Moore; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Diess.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the La Monte Cemetery Endowment Fund or the La Monte United Methodist Church and both can be left in care of the funeral home.
