Burg Fest

Warrensburg Main Street Inc. and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County have partnered to bring Burg Fest to downtown Warrensburg.
The festivities will begin Friday, Sept. 25, and continue through Saturday, Sept. 26.
Burg Fest opens at 4 p.m. Friday with the opening ceremonies, featuring a Warrensburg High School pep rally with the high school band, football team, and pom and cheer squads. Opening remarks will be made by Mayor Robin Allen followed by live music beginning at 5 pm. The Main Stage, located behind the Johnson County Courthouse, will feature Friday night performances by Brandon Webb, Emily Russell & the Tribe of Levites, The Lucky Dogs and The Nace Brothers. A Warrensburg High School All Class Reunion will be gathering at the festival.
There will be a Kids’ Inflatable Zone for kids of all ages. Wristbands for admission to the kids zone cost $15 for one day, $25 for the weekend or $20 if you buy three or more weekend bands. There will be a Play Zone designated for children 5 and under. The children’s area is open from 4-9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday. New this year is a Saturday Special, the Burg Train. Take a ride around the festival for $2.
On Saturday, the Main Stage will feature the Warrensburg Jr. Community Chorus, UCM Dance Club, Twister Sports, Center Stage Academy of the Performing Arts and many more. There will be a Mazzio’s Wing eating contest and The T. Ross Band to kickoff the Glow Run Pre-party. The Glow Run begins at 8 p.m.
Saturday will also feature a new element to Burg Fest called The Tent, which will be located in the front of the Courthouse from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Tent will have various demonstrations, hands-on activities, and informational workshops throughout the day.
The Warrensburg Farmers’ Market will be open for regular hours, 7:30 a.m. until noon Saturday along West Market Street. The Warrensburg Wheels Cruise-In Car Show is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday along Gay Street.
A KC Sanctioned BBQ Contest will take place along Pine Street. Judging will take place on Saturday at noon and winners will be announced that afternoon.
