The Lake Cottage Duo concert

The Performing Arts Series at the University of Central Missouri, in partnership with the department of music, presents The Lake Cottage Duo in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in Hart Recital Hall.
The Lake Cottage Duo, featuring Juanita Becker, piano, and Sheri Mattson, oboe, performs classical art music from the 17th century through the present day. They have performed together more than 15 years, meeting as doctoral students at Florida State University. The duo’s name comes from their favorite rehearsal venue, a cottage on Lake Superior.
The concert will feature, among other works, performances of German composer Johann Christian Fischer’s “Concerto No. 1 in C Major,” 20th century composer Benjamin Britton’s “Six Metamorphoses After Ovid, Op. 49” and Giovanni Daelli’s “Fantasy on Themes from Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto.’”
A collaborative pianist and harpsichordist, Becker is professor of music at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee and also performs with the Kenosha Symphony. Mattson is a member of the UCM Department of Music faculty and also performs with the Lee’s Summit Symphony.
Tickets for The Lake Cottage Duo concert are $3 for students and $7 for adults and are available online at ucmpas.com and one hour prior to show time at Hart Recital Hall.
