Helen L. Lyle, 94, died Saturday, April 2, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. Interment will follow in Knob Noster Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Helen was born April 11, 1921, in Knob Noster, Missouri, the daughter of Everett and Ada (McIntire) Jenkins.

Helen attended grade school in Knob Noster and Dunksburg. She graduated from Sweet Springs High School in 1942. She later graduated from Central Business College in Sedalia and worked in the offices of Country Club Dairy and the Federal Reserve Bank (RFC dept.) in Kansas City. She also worked for Town and Country Shoes and the old Woolworth Store in Warrensburg. Helen married George Lyle of Knob Noster on June 8, 1948, and they moved to a farm northeast of Warrensburg where they raised cattle and crops. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1992.

Helen was active in the Johnson County Extension and Johnson County Farm Bureau serving as president of the women’s extension committee on the Farm Bureau board and chairperson of the women’s activity committee. The Lyles were charter members of Northside Christian Church in Warrensburg where she was active in the early years as a Sunday school teacher and participated in various women’s activities.

Helen is survived by a son, Steven Lyle and wife, Linda, of Urich; a sister, Mary Shew, of Lansing, Kansas; and one grandson, Aleksey Lyle, of Urich.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Edward Jenkins.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home or Ozark Christian College and can be left in care of the funeral home.
