Gov. Jay Nixon’s administration says Don’s Cold Storage could receive more than $1.1 million under several state incentive programs to build a $14 million cold-storage and distribution center. Nixon says the 152,000 square-foot-facility could eventually bring 52 new jobs to the area. Don’s Cold Storage is headquartered in Rogers, Ark.

Nixon highlighted the project during a visit Thursday to Joplin in his official capacity.

Jobs also have been a key theme of Nixon’s campaign against Republican businessman Dave Spence. Nixon has pointed to specific job announcements and a falling unemployment rate. Spence counters with figures showing many Missourians have stopped looking for work and notes the state’s economy trailed those of neighbors last year.
