Carl Stumpff

Carl W Stumpff, 84, of Holden, Missouri, died Sunday, April 3, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

A visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Holden United Methodist Church in Holden, Missouri.

Carl was born in Holden on March 12, 1932, the son of James Oliver Stumpff and Sarah Davis (Howard) Stumpff. Carl graduated from Holden High School in 1950 and lived in Holden his whole life. He married Francis Ann Robey June 28, 1969 in Holden, Missouri. Carl was a farmer his whole life with his brother Ora, raising cattle, pigs and crops at Stumpff Brothers Farms.

In 1972, the brothers purchased Lawler’s Service station which they owned and operated together. After retirement, they continued “farming” with gardens of vegetables and strawberries and his infamous asparagus patches. Carl was a member of the Holden United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a son, Jim Stumpff and wife Brenda, of Holden; a daughter, Carla Kuhlman and husband Jeremy, of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kelsee Stumpff, Kaitlyn Stumpff, Zane Kuhlman, Isaac Kuhlman; a brother, Ora Stumpff and wife Shirley, of Holden; Marcelle Stumpff Bennett and husband Myron, of Columbia; brother-in-law, William Robey and wife Marion of Holden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Ann; his brother, Howard Keith Stumpff; and step-mother Faye Stumpff.

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Carl W. Stumpff to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.
