Donald “Leon” Nace, 76, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Monday, April 25, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Leon was born April 9, 1940, on the family farm near Knob Noster, the son of Roy and Rebecca (Bailey) Nace. He graduated from Knob Noster High School and later attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Leon was united in marriage to Doris Jean Cole on Dec. 1, 1962, in Higginsville. He worked on a bridge crew for five years. He started Nace Construction on Jan. 1, 1965, and continued to operate the business for the next 50 years. Leon enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Warrensburg Elk Lodge, #673.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of the home; son, Steve Nace and wife, Sherri, of Knob Noster; granddaughters, Erica Livengood of Warrenbsurg and Vanessa Livengood of Knob Noster; grandson, Cole Nace of Knob Noster; three great-grandsons and sisters, Patsy Senior of Warrensburg and Laura Moore of Knob Noster. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws: Charles Senior and Gary Moore.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Plachte officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, south of Knob Noster.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
