William Cleo “Bill” Newby, 74, of rural Knob Noster, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 11, at his home.
Bill was born March 3, 1942, in Cameron, Missouri, the son of James Franklin Newby and Ethel Mae (Niederhauser) Newby. He attended Cameron High School. He married Lora Lea Dilley on March 6, 1960, in Cameron. The couple have resided near Knob Noster for the past 24 years. Bill retired from construction. He was a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lora Lea; son, Jeff Newby and wife, Jessica, of Warrensburg; four daughters, Pam Nelson and husband, Ken, of Knob Noster; Cindy Myers and husband, Scott, of Warrensburg; Kim Chambers and husband, Mark, of Holden; and Sheila Pigman and husband, Roy, of Warrensburg; two sisters, Lalah Milligan and husband, Lloyd, of Liberty; and Wanda Jones, of Smithville; brother, Bob Newby, and wife, Kathy, of Edgerton, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, Sarah Hopper and husband, Joe, of Sedalia; Racheal Nelson, of Knob Noster; Heather Hockaday and husband, David, of Sedalia; Luci Myers, of Arizona; Jake Myers and wife, Tosha, of Warrensburg; Jamie Chambers and Luke Chambers, both of Holden; and Becca Newby, Abby Newby, Sam Gentile and Izzy Newby, all of Warrensburg; Skyler Pigman and Sierra Pigman, of Warrensburg; and four great-grandchildren, Hayden James, Blake Jacob, Josie and Xzavier. He was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Newby; sister, Verna Mae and his parents.
A funeral service was Saturday, May 14, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Dr. Dan Lowry of Leeton Christian Church. Interment followed in the Knob Noster Cemetery.
