(CLAYTON, Mo., AP) — St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger wants a study to consider a light rail route that would run through Ferguson, connecting two other route proposals already up for consideration.
Stenger said Tuesday that he’s not declaring in favor of the Ferguson route for MetroLink, but he says it’s worth a look.
The county has pledged $3 million from Propoition A sales tax money to pay for studying three routes. Stenger believes that money would cover a study of the Ferguson route, too.
Stenger and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay have been at odds since June, when Stenger said in a letter to a federal agency saying he would not endorse the so-called north-south route until other proposals are studied. Slay is a strong advocate of the north-south route proposal.
