Delores Elizabeth Salter, 77, died on Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Warrensburg, Missouri.

A eulogy was given on Friday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. and visitation followed until 8 p.m., at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joe Bathke officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

Delores was born in Missouri on Oct. 18, 1940 to Josephine D. White and Edwin B. Stone. She graduated from Loretto Academy High School of Kansas City in 1958, where her love and talent for music landed her the lead in many operettas.

On Feb. 11, 1960, she married the love of her life, Unites States Air Force Serviceman, Robert Earl Salter. They and their eventual six children were stationed in Mississippi, Hawaii, and lastly Texas where they lived for 28 years.

Delores was always strong in her Catholic faith. She and her husband taught Catechism to teenagers. She served as a Eucharistic minister, a Guardian of Adoration and continued her love of singing in the church choir. Her life’s enjoyment was traveling to visit her children and grandchildren

Upon retirement in 2002, Delores and Robert built a home and relocated to Warrensburg, Missouri, next to one of their daughters. For the past 15 years, life slowed down for Delores and the city girl grew to love the country air, swinging on her front porch, going to the movie theater, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and holding small farm animals and puppies.

Delores is survived by two sons: Robert K. Salter of Atlanta, Georgia, Edwin R. Salter (Karen) of Oak Point, Texas, and four daughters: Sherye A. Allen (Jeff) of Carnesville, Georgia, Therye M. Wright (James) of Warrensburg, Tracey R. Mitchell (Charles) of Acworth, Georgia, and Deanna L. Granson (Kelly) of Acworth, Georgia; brother Edwin B. Stone of North Port, Florida; two sisters: Shelly Wilson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Sandy Richmeyer of St. Louis, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Salter and her parents.

Contributions may be made in her honor to Huntington’s Disease Society of America and can be left in care of the funeral home.
