Benny L. Surface, 88, of Cameron, Missouri, died Friday, June 22, at Cameron Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, with Pastor Vicke Copp officiating. Interment followed at Grand Pass Cemetery at Grand Pass, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Larry Denman, Larry Denman II, Earl Dickerson, Howard Henderson, Jay Carraway, J.C. Flores, Dustin Chesnut and Anthony McKee.
Benny was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Jamestown, Missouri, son of Andrew and Maude (Haynes) Surface. He served in the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage to Betty V. Templeton on June 14, 1952 at Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The couple made their home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Benny worked for Wheeling Steel for 23 years. Later, he was employed with the North Kansas City School District for nearly seven years. He also sold real estate with his wife, Betty, at one time.
The couple resided in Independence, Missouri, prior to retiring to Cameron. Benny was Baptized in Christ on March 26, 1964. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife, Betty and numerous nieces and nephews, whom were thought of as the couple’s children. Benny was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Maudine Surface, in infancy; and five brothers, Louis, Chester, J. W., Ellis and Robert.
