Cecil “Ray” Raynes, 83, of Warrensburg, died Sept. 2 at Country Club Care Center.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 9, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 10, at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Basye officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
Ray was born June 1, 1935, in Odessa, Missouri, to Walter and Blanche Raynes.
On June 5th, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Curtis in Odessa, who survives at Country Club Care Center. Ray graduated from Odessa High School in 1953. Ray was in the Missouri National Guard for 37 years and worked as a full-time aircraft mechanic for 34 years. He enjoyed wood working, traveling the country with Mary Lou and going to their cabin on the Lake of the Ozarks, where he was an excellent water skier.
Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; son, Kevin Raynes and spouse, Dianne McCloud of Centerview, Missouri; daughter, Renee Winfrey and spouse, Jeff of Odessa; sister, Shirley Campbell and spouse, Carl of Bates City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tara Sproat (Ronnie) of Warrensburg, Clint Raynes (Megan) of Concordia, Missouri, Derek Raynes (Courtney) of Cameron, North Carolina, Adam Zeih (Alex) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Ashley Zeih of Odessa; six great grandchildren, Keenan Zeih, Hailey Iiams, Emmeline Sproat, Blake Sproat, Cayson Raynes, and Griffin Raynes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of choice and can be left in care of the funeral home.
