A UCM volleyball senior recently earned the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American award, according to UCM Athletics.
Kylie Hohlen, of Roca, Nebraska, became the 11th Academic All-American in team history and the fifth to make the first team. She was one of two student-athletes from the MIAA to earn the honor and the only one on the first team.
Hohlen helped lead the Jennies back to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2015 and a 25-8 record. The Jens finished 15th in the AVCA year-end rankings. She is a six rotation player who made an impact all over the floor.
She was second on the team with 3.24 kills per set and second with 3.92 digs per set. She earned first team All-MIAA honors for the second time in her career and was chosen as a D2CCA All-Region performer. She also earned her second consecutive AVCA All-American honorable mention this season, according to a news release.
She finished sixth in the MIAA in kills per set and 13th in digs per set. She was the only player in the MIAA this season to be in the top-10 in kills and the top-15 in digs per set.
Hohlen is a senior elementary education major with a 4.0 GPA. She’s earned the MIAA Academic Excellence award every year at UCM as well as being named an MIAA Scholar Athlete and to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
