Weldon was born April 18, 1942, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Homer G. and Dorothy (Berry) Brady. He was proud of his humble beginnings where his family farmed with horses, had no electricity or running water. He was also proud to have grown up with the fine folks in the Lincoln community. He always felt blessed to have had the most wonderful parents.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and from the University of Central Missouri in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. In 1964, he began his successful 30-year banking career at the Citizen’s Bank of Warrensburg. In 1966, upon returning from an active duty stint with the United States Army Missouri National Guard, he was given the opportunity to go to the Bank of Knob Noster. In 1967, he purchased controlling interest of the bank where he became president and remained for the next 20 years. After banking, Weldon was instrumental in the development of residential and commercial projects in and around Warrensburg, Missouri, as well as enjoying raising cattle.
Weldon served 10 years on the Board of Governors at the University of Central Missouri. He also served many years on the UCM Foundation board, including two terms as president. He served several years on the Johnson County Economic Development Corporation board, including two years as president, and was one of the founding board members of the Whiteman Area Leadership Council, including service as president. He also served two terms on the board at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital (now Western Missouri Medical Center).
Weldon and his wife, Vicki, of 20 years, enjoyed nothing more than their beautiful blended family, Kelly (Barry) Gilbert, Holly Simmons, Charle (Kellie) Brady, Katherine “Katie” Brady, Kelli (Rich) Johnson, Tricia (Travis) Fleming and their nine grandchildren, Abigail, Anaya, Chloe, Walker Blue, Brady, Janie, Bailey, Brooklynn and Brilynn.
Contributions may be made in his honor to The Summit Church and checks can be left in care of the funeral home.
