Hospital auxiliary awards scholarships

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The Western Missouri Medical Center Auxiliary board recently awarded $500 scholarships to 10 students, according to a news release.

The scholarships total $5,000, which is a $1,500 increase from last year. Each year, the WMMC Auxiliary sponsors the Health Care Career Scholarships for students who are pursuing or furthering their education in any health care field. Recipients are selected by the WMMC Auxiliary Scholarship Committee based on financial need, scholastic ability, work plans and a demonstrated interest in health care, according to the news release.

This year’s recipients are: Gabriella Cavuoti, Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Truman Sate University; Jackie Discher, Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Central Missouri; Devon Heins, BSN at the University of Missouri in Columbia; Callie Hicks, Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition at UCM; Rachel Ouellette, BSN at MU; Autumn Rives, Master of Science in Communication Disorders at UCM; Jorglynne Shepard, BSN at UCM; Renee Kozee, Bachelor of Science in Health Information Technology at Stephens College; Storm Simons, Master of Science in Communication Disorders at UCM.

Robert Semonisck, former chair of the WMMC Board of Trustees, also presented a $500 donation to the WMMC Auxiliary for a nursing student in memory of his late wife, Ann, who was also a nurse. The donation was awarded to Rachel Clancy, a first-year nursing student at State Fair Community College.

Donations to the Health Care Career Scholarship Fund may be made to the WMMC Auxiliary and mailed to WMMC Auxiliary, 403 Burkarth Road, Warrensburg, MO, 64093.
