Agapita Lopez Gaela, 80, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Sunday, April 17, at her home.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the funeral home with Reverends Clarita and Reuben Barruel officiating.

Agapita was born March 24, 1936, in Manila Philippines, daughter of Eugenio and Cecilia (Alarcon) Lopez. She was united in marriage to Miguel S. Gaela on Sept. 4, 1958, in Lucban Quezon, Philippines. She moved to Warrensburg with her son, Joel, in 1986. Shortly after, Agapita moved to Pittsburg, California, to be near her sister. In 1998, she returned to Warrensburg, and she went to work at Rival Manufacturing. Upon Rival’s closing, she went to work for Tyson Foods, retiring in 2011. In years past, Agapita was very active with Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City.

Survivors include her husband, Miguel; daughter, Miriam Dilao and husband, Samuel, of the Philippines; three sons, George Gaela and wife, Isabelita, of the Philippines; Joel Gaela and significant other, Leilani Giles, of Knob Noster, Missouri, and Jonathan Gaela and wife, Lily, of the Philippines; sister, Clarita Barruel and husband, Reuben, of the Philippines; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Grace, and several brothers and sisters.
