Alice R. Thompson, 100, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg and visitation services beginning at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be Ken Thompson, Blake Thompson, Kris Thompson, John Bell, Kaleb Caldwell, Kody Caldwell and Bailey Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ava Thompson and Wyatt Bell.
Interment will follow at Knob Noster Cemetery.
She was born June 25, 1915, in Knob Noster, the daughter of Grover and Alice (Denton) Coats.
She was united in marriage to Delmar Thompson on Dec. 19, 1936, in La Monte, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1985.
Alice graduated from Knob Noster High School. She then attended Missouri State Teacher’s College and received her teaching credentials. Alice taught school at Johnson County Line School for three years. She then worked as a cook for Knob Noster School District from 1957 to 1982 and retired after 25 years of service. Alice and her husband farmed and raised cattle. She was well known as an avid gardener.
Alice is survived by one son, Gordon Thompson, and wife, Darlene, of Columbia, Missouri; one daughter, Ann Bell, and husband, Stanley, of Knob Noster; four grandchildren, Ken Thompson and wife, Lisa, of Columbia, Missouri; Kris Thompson and wife, Amy, of Boulder, Colorado; Karen Caldwell and husband, Terry, of Richmond, Missouri; and John Bell and wife, Priscilla, of Knob Noster; and six great-grandchildren, Blake and Ava Thompson, Kaleb and Kody Caldwell, and Bailey and Wyatt Bell.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Judith Ann Thompson; one brother, Walter Coats; and two sisters, Edna Reynolds and Mary Paul.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Knob Noster First Christian Church and can be left at the funeral home.
