The Warrensburg Schools Foundation Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament took place April, 20. More than 70 golfers and 30 sponsors raised nearly $7,000 for the Partners in Progress campaign to improve the equipment and safety of the Ridge View playground.
Alumnus Scott Solomon of Ameriprise Financial sponsored the event, with Quarry City Savings and Loan providing the Flight Prizes for the tournament.
Johnson County Title Company provided the raffle items including an at-home golf simulator and a Garmin GPS watch.
Randy Russell won the Swisher’s Putting Contest, with Keith Chapman and Blaine Warden placing second and third respectively. The Lotspeich Automotive Hole-in-One contest did not have a winner.
Placing first in Flight A was the team of Jake Lotspeich and Chad Edwards, first in Flight B was the team of Drew Lewis and Kevin Smarr, first in Flight C was the team of Bob Collins and Allen Wise, first in Flight D was the team of Alex Karscig and Taylor Dyer, and first in Flight E was the team of Craig Hibdon and Mike Joyner.
All proceeds from the tournament support the Partners in Progress campaign to improve the Ridge View Elementary playground. The campaign received kick-off donations from JE Dunn Construction Company and the Dorothy Stockton Memorial totaling $3,000. Mrs. Dorothy Stockton served as the Ridge View principal for 12 years.
The Warrensburg Schools Foundation has committed to raise $75,000 to supplement Warrensburg R-VI School District funding for the project. The Ridge View playground is the final R-VI District playground to receive the updates.
