Anna Lee Hager Rader, 96, of the Magnolia Community, died Nov. 1, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with interment to follow in Pisgah Cemetery north of Chilhowee. Anna Lee’s grandchildren will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral chapel.
She was born on May 8, 1919, in rural Calhoun, Missouri, the daughter of George Lewis and Minnie Belle Cummings Hager. Anna Lee spent most of her early years in the Calhoun and Clinton area where she worked as a nanny and at Brown Manufacturing Company before her marriage. Anna Lee was married to Delbert Rader on July 15, 1939, in Clinton. They made their first home on a farm near Roseland. They purchased a farm near Magnolia in 1943 and together operated a cattle and poultry business. Anna Lee enjoyed farm life and was interested in community affairs. She loved flowers and enjoyed sharing her arrangements at special church and community events. Other interests were quilt piecing and writing. She had kept a daily diary of family and community events since 1978.
She has been a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church since 1953. Her church was an important part of the family’s life and she served as church clerk for 17 years, Bible school teacher, young adult and senior adult Sunday School teacher. She wrote the church history from the year the old church was built until 1989. She was WMU president for 30 years and church historian. She served as 4-H Community leader for several years when her children were in 4-H. She also served on the Pisgah Cemetery board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, in 1995; son, Jamie; daughter, Mina; grandson, Bryan Greene; four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Mac) Greene, of Chilhowee, Missouri; Marianne (Gary) Rhoades, of Leeton, Missouri; and Sandy (Steve) Erisman, of Warrensburg, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Jim (Delores) Rader, of Larkspur, Colorado; Laura (Bret) Heider, of Raton, New Mexico; Lance Hanson, of Iowa City, Iowa; Pamela Greene, of Warrensburg; Dusty Rhoades, of Culver City, California; Shannon Rhoades, of Cedar Hill, Missouri; Alex (Carrie Wright) Rhoades, of Raytown, Missouri; Eric (Amanda) Jackson, of Oak Grove, Missouri; David Jackson, of Kansas City, Missouri; and Jordan Erisman, of Warrensburg; and nine great-grandchildren.
