Anna May Berry, 82, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Ridgecrest Nursing Center in Warrensburg.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Dr. Randy Neal, of Grover Park Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Knob Noster Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Russ Brockway III, Chris Brockway, Terry Knight, Greg Clancy, Ryan Pummill and Shannon Ward.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Kessner, Don Cleveland, Larry Wille, Leonard Minor, George Bullard,George Goldsmith and Blake Brockway.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Anna was born March 19, 1935, in Warrensburg, the daughter of William Joseph Whitehead and Maybelle “Edna” (Adams) Whitehead. She graduated from Warrensburg High School, class of 1954. She was married to Russell D. Brockway Sr. on Oct. 22, 1954, in Fayetteville. The couple lived all over the world due to Russell’s Air Force career. In 1986, she married Willis Keith Berry in Warrensburg.
In the early years, Anna concentrated on homemaking, gardening and canning. When her children were older, she was employed at a credit union at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan. Later, she worked at the credit union at Whiteman Air Force Base for several years. She also was a bookkeeper for Ron Castleman and a secretary for Safeway Van Lines prior to doing secretarial and sales work at Warrensburg Wholesale Carpet and Furniture until retiring.
Anna was an avid bowler in years past. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church at Fayetteville and later at Grover Park Baptist Church in Warrensburg. She was a member of Western Missouri Medical Center Auxiliary. Anna also volunteered at the Warrensburg Veterans Home and Johnson County Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include daughter, Teresa Ann Collins and husband, John, of Warrensburg; two sons, Russ D. Brockway Jr. and wife, Monica, of Warrensburg; Ron D. Brockway and wife, Becky, of Sedalia; sister, Charlene Patterson, of Chase, Kansas; half-sister, Ruby Simpson, of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Krystal Knight and husband, Terry, of Warrensburg; Rachel Clancy and husband, Greg, of Warrensburg; Russ Brockway III, of Warrensburg; Chris Brockway, of Knob Noster; Ashley Pummill and husband, Ryan, of Clarksville, Tennessee; LaTaunya Ward and husband, Shannon, of Cole Camp; and Blake Brockway, of Sedalia; and nine great-grandchildren. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, on Aug. 21, 2005; brother, Bill Whitehead; sister, Ruth Norton; grandson, Brian Collins and great-granddaughter, Lakelynn Pummill.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grover Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
