(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — UCM’s Julia Bates was recently named MIAA Specialist of the Week.
Bates helped lead Central Missouri to a 3-1 record over the weekend including a victory over No. 10 Indianapolis. She reached the 50-assist mark three times and had 48 assists when the Jennies defeated UI.
She had 50 assists in a five-set loss to No. 2 Tampa. She also averaged 1.06 kills per set as she recorded 19 kills over the four matches.
Against Tampa, Bates recorded her first double-double of the season as she had 50 assists along with 13 digs. The 6-0 junior setter is from Leavenworth, Kan. where she competed at Lansing High School.
Truman middle hitter Megan Sharpe earned MIAA Hitter of the Week honors after averaging 4.21 kills per set while hitting .427 on the opening weekend.
