Betty Jean Ridge, 76, of Kansas City, formerly of Warrensburg, died Friday, Dec. 15, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Brother Charles Brant officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

She was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Grain Valley, Missouri, the daughter of Clyde Vivian and Leona (Williams) Slater.

She and John Edward Ridge were united in marriage on Sept. 10, 1960, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2000.

She worked at Western Missouri Medical Center for many years and retired in 2008.

Betty is survived by three children, Robin Byrd and husband, Rob, of Kansas City; Robert Ridge, of Holden; and Billy Gene Ridge, of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Stephanie Ridge, Adam Ridge, Angela Ridge, Iris Ridge, Lorrie Ridge, Travis Ridge, Amber Byrd, Josh Byrd and Justin Byrd; and one great-grandchild, Quinn Smith.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Betty Ridge Memorial Fund with checks made payable to Robin Byrd and can be left in care of the funeral home.
