Bowling alley back on track at the Hawthorne

By ELLEN HIRNI (WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) – A new $7 million bowling alley is under development at the Hawthorne shopping center on the north side of Warrensburg, according to the real estate agent affiliated with the project.

Gary Brown, a commercial real estate agent representing the property, said that the 33,000-square-foot building should be completed within nine months. The Hawthorne Entertainment Center lot is located behind Wal-Mart and adjacent to the Carmike movie theater.

Brown said a buyer is waiting for the completion of the entertainment center building. He would not reveal the name of the buyer.

Brown said the buyer plans to turn the building into a bowling alley with 16 lanes, eight of which will be private.

The property was originally being developed as a bowling alley, but the project stalled and was mired in court to settle a series of mechanics liens.
