Care Connection for Aging Services offers help with Medicare Open Enrollment

Care Connection for Aging Services has scheduled enrollment assistance sessions for individuals who have Medicare Part D prescription and Advantage plans in its 13-county service area.

Open enrollment runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 for people with Medicare who want to make changes to their health and prescription drug plans for next year.

Trained staff members will perform free one-on-one Part D comparisons and answer questions during the enrollment counseling sessions. Enrollees should bring their Medicare cards and a list of current prescriptions, according to a Care Connection news release.

Care Connection is partnering with CLAIM, Missouri’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program, to provide this service to people who have Medicare coverage. Medicare counselors can provide people with a customized list of all their Medicare options for the 2018 plan year, according to the news release.

“It’s a good idea to do this annually because your health needs, your prescriptions and the coverage a company provides all may change from year to year,” said Rona McNally, Care Connection director of special projects.“The open enrollment time offers you the chance to review your coverage and the companies you choose, even if you like your current plan.”

The local open enrollment counseling sessions are:

Warrensburg Senior Center, 445 E. Gay St., Warrensburg: Oct. 18, Nov. 1, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Trails Regional Library, 432 N. Holden St., Warrensburg: Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-748-7826. Walk-ins are accepted if time permits.

Care Connection for Aging Services is a nonprofit agency serving 13 counties in West Central Missouri: Bates, Lafayette, Hickory, Cedar, St. Clair, Vernon, Johnson, Pettis, Henry, Benton, Carroll, Chariton and Saline.
