(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., AP) — A Missouri lawmaker says budget officials are forecasting continued growth in state revenues for the next fiscal year.
State Rep. Tom Flanigan said Tuesday that economists and budget officials for the legislative and executive branches have agreed on a projection of 3.1 percent growth in state revenues for the upcoming budget year.
The Republican lawmaker from Carthage was involved in the analysis because he will be vice chairman of the House Budget Committee when the Legislature convenes in January. Lawmakers will be working on a budget for the 2014 fiscal year, which begins July 1.
The revenue estimate is used as a basis for that budget by both Gov. Jay Nixon and the legislative budget committees.
