Delsey Woolsey

Delsey Lee Woolsey, 72, of Sugar Creek, Missouri formerly, of Chilhowee died Thursday, October 13, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with The Rev. Charles Brant officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chilhowee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Delsey was born May 21, 1944 in Greenwood, Missouri the daughter of Alpha William Wood and Lulamel Vine (Stevenson) Wood. In her younger years, she resided in Versailles. She married Robert Leroy Atkinson, Sr. in 1961 in Sedalia. The couple made their home in Independence, Missouri for several years prior to moving to Chilhowee in 1972. Later, Delsey returned to Independence. She was a cook at several restaurants throughout the years. She collected angels and she enjoyed doing embroidery and going to the casinos. Spending time with family and friends brought her the most joy.

Survivors include daughter: Vickie Dine of Independence; three sons: Robert “Allen” Atkinson, Clayton Leroy Atkinson and Ricky Lee Atkinson, all of Independence; two stepdaughters, Burgundy Newberry and husband, Scott of Warrensburg, Missouri and Arlene “Renae” Monroe and husband, Kendall, of Stover, Missouri; two stepsons Eric Alonzo Atkinson and Robert Leroy Atkinson, Jr., both of Stover; brother, Wilford Wood, of Belton, Missouri; twenty seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Frances Fields, Nadine Wood, Clarcie Fields, Dorothy Boin, Jewell Duett and Ruth May Greenwell and eight brothers, Buck Coonce, Wilbert Coonce, Raymond Wood, Clovis James Lees, Aubrey Wood, Roy Binder, Lloyd Wood and Elmer Wood.
