Dorothy “Louise” Harpstrite, 91, of La Monte, Missouri died Oct. 14, in Sedalia, Missouri.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Oct. 20 at Moore Funeral Home of La Monte. Interment followed the service in La Monte Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Walters, David Thomlinson, Bill Wiskur, Russell Wiskur, Raymond Wiskur, John Fowler and Melvin Ficken.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 19, with a Rosary beginning at 4:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Louise was born on May 6, 1927, in rural Pettis County, Missouri, the daughter of Daniel Joseph Harrison Nannie Bessie Shernamen. She graduated from La Monte High School in the class of 1945. She married in 1948 to Warren Lind and he passed away in 1954. In 1958, she married Edward Walters, who passed away in 1989. She married Andrew Harpstrite in 1991, and he passed away in 2016.
Louise enjoyed gardening and canning and having fresh-cut flowers all over her home. She also was a talented carpenter and liked remodeling her farmhouse. She was a Catholic by faith, and attended Sacred Heart Parish and St. Patrick’s Parish, both of Sedalia.
She is survived by her son Frederick Lind (Robin) of Knob Noster; daughter, Christine Lind Smith (Bob Pasternak) of Indiana; son, Benjamin Walters (Mary), of La Monte; daughter, Anna Thomlinson (Victor) of Sedalia; step-daughter, Linda Harpstrite Brown (Randy) of Marion, Illinois; step-son, Steve Harpstrite of Marion, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and another on the way; brother, Francis “Skinny” Harrison of La Monte; sister, Barbara Jean “Bean” Hughes of La Monte; brother, William LeRoy Harrison (Vera) of La Monte; brother, David Earl (Bessie) of Sedalia; sister, Martha Josephine “Jo” Harbaugh (Elmer) of La Monte; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands; step-son, Frank Harpstrite; great-grandson, Elias Barnes; her parents; sister, Theresa Marie Forbes (Wade); sister-in-law, Veva Harrison; sister, Nannie Rose “Rosie” Wiskur (Dale); and brother-in-law, Gillum Hughes.
Contributions may be made to either the La Monte Cemetery or Crossroads Hospice and checks may be left in care of the funeral home.
