(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) -After months of construction, West Pine Street will be reopened to through traffic Friday, Aug. 17
Until then, there will still be minor road closures. Through Friday, Aug. 17, Bodies alley and the center area of West Pine Street will be closed for asphalt imprinting and color coating. Traffic will be allowed onto West Pine Street from Holden Street and Washington Street, but it will be closed to through traffic.
As West Pine Street reopens on Aug. 17, the walkway in the alley will be stained and coated. The walkway alley stairs leading to the Culton Street parking lot have already been completed.
The construction on West Pine Street is almost done, but now the city is asking for help. The public is invited to submit artwork for the 10-foot diameter etched circle that will be permanently installed in the sidewalk on West Pine Street. This is an open competition for professional and non-professional artists.
A prize of $500 will be awarded to the chosen design. Electronic submissions are due by Aug. 19 to CAFE at www.callforentry.org and mailed submissions must be received by 5 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Warrensburg Arts Commission, 102-A South Holden. There is a $20 application fee.
