Ellen F. Bowers, 68, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Monday, Oct. 13, at Country Club Care Center.
Cremation is planned and the family will hold an informal memorial service at later date.
She was born June 29, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Grafton and Estyl (Cowgill) Bowers.
Ellen was an artist and writer who published 11 books on a variety of topics including addiction, parenting, self-help, and collections of her own poetry. Some of the books include Ellen’s own artwork as illustrations. Her website, www.bohemianbookshelf.com includes details about her writing. She was a frequent traveler and spent portions of her life in Los Angeles, California; Reno, Nevada; and South Korea. She was a member of the Science of Mind Church and various 12-step organizations.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Janet Kay Robinson of Warrensburg; two sisters, Brenda Bonar of Lathrop, Missouri; and Charlotte McCollough of Topeka, Kansas; one brother, Samuel Mitchell Bowers of St. Louis; her mother, Estyl N. Bowers of Platte City, Missouri; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
