Elton H. Guinn III

Elton H. “Jr.” Guinn III, 46, of the Magnolia Community, died Sunday, June 5, at his farm.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Forward Community Church in Holden with the Rev. Rodney Baumgarden officiating. Interment will follow in New Liberty Cemetery at Magnolia with full military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5844, and Munday-Hancock, Post 90, American Legion.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Elton was born April 19, 1970, in Harrisonville, the son of Elton H. “Terry” Guinn Jr. and Phyllis (Rodrock) Guinn. He graduated from Holden High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1989 and served in Dessert Storm. Jr. was united in marriage to Michelle R. Anstine on July 19, 1991, in Holden. Following his discharge from active duty, he worked the night shift at Stahl’s for several years while also doing farm work during the day. Jr.’s passion for farming led to him purchasing his first combine, a 7700 John Deere, which he used for custom harvesting. Next, he purchased a 9500 John Deere, which led to his partnership/friendship with Bruce and Shirley White. At the time of his passing, he and Michelle were Pioneer Hi-bred sales reps.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle; two daughters, Haley McLennan and husband, J. C.; and Jacqueline Guinn, all of Holden; grandson, Jase Colter McLennan; father, Terry Guinn, and wife, Judy, of Holden; mother, Phyllis Miller, and husband, George, of Clinton; three brothers, Shawn Guinn, and wife, Amy; and Doug Guinn and wife, Nikki, all of Holden; and Michael Miller, of Clinton; mother-in-law, Donna Scrutchfield, and husband, Daryl, of Holden; father-in-law, Stephen Anstine, of Blairstown; three brothers-in-law, Johnny Anstine, and wife, Sandi, of Chilhowee; Zak Anstine, of Holden; and Coleman Anstine, of Warrensburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elton and Violet Guinn and John and Violet Davin; step-grandparents, Leo and Ercie Porterfield; and his best friend, Tony Bryant.

 

A memorial fund is being established.

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
