Emma ‘Jean’ Duffer Thompson

Emma “Jean” Duffer Thompson, 86, of La Monte, Missouri, died Monday, Feb. 19, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia, Missouri.

Funeral Services were 11a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at First Christian Church in Knob Noster, Missouri, with Larry Ficken and Dan Sevier co-officiating. Interment followed in the Knob Noster Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale McCain, David Rohde, Cody Cantrell, Clif Bayless, Travis Snell and Ean Rohde.

Honorary Pallbearers were Sam Thurston, Lester Lane, Charlie Swearingen, Bill Hughes, Tom Hughes, Randall Duffer, Larry Ficken, Melvin Ficken, Stanley Bell and Steve Frazon. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Christian Church in Knob Noster.

She was born to William Everett and Nancy Myrtle (Crain) Duffer Jan. 2, 1932 in Dresden, Missouri. On April 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gene Dale Thompson in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Jean was a member of the First Christian Church in Knob Noster, Missouri for over 60 years.

Along with helping on the farm, Jean also worked for Knob Noster schools and JCPenney. In her spare time, she loved to play cards or dominos with her many friends. Jean and Gene Dale loved square dancing and going to music shows, but most of all they enjoyed spending quality time with their sons and families on the farm, where she served the best cooking around.

Survivors include two sons: Keith Thompson and wife, Pam of La Monte, Missouri, and Terry Thompson and wife, Debbie of Knob Noster; five granddaughters: Heather and Dale McCain, Erin and David Rohde, Krystal and Travis Snell, Tasha and Cody Cantrell and Lacey and Clif Bayless; nine great- grandchildren: Ean and Ashtyn Rohde, Harrison and Allie Rae Snell, Cael and Cade Cantrell, Hadley, Finlee and Lyge Bayless and three brothers: Dan Duffer, Denver, Colorado; Russell Duffer, Blue Springs, Missouri; Don Duffer, Knob Noster, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Dale, two sisters: Zetta Bass and Kathleen Hughes Epple and two brothers: Carol Duffer and William Elmo Duffer.

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
