Lori Beaman and Linda Bales comprise the acoustic duo The Lakesiders.  The pair will present songs written and inspired by others from the local creative community at Old Drum Open Mic, Thursday October 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Java Junction in downtown Warrensburg.

The Lakesiders, Linda Bales on vocals and ukulele, Lori Beaman on bass ukulele, is an acoustic group that usually performs original tunes, but this time the duo will perform songs written by other Old Drum Open Mic contributors.  “Storms Brewing,” by Rose Marie Kinder and “Gifts,” whose lyrics were penned by Benton County resident Deb Noland will be on their performance slate.

Crooner Phil Wagner will sing two numbers, one with significant audience participation, and the other with Old Drum Open Mic regular Henry Yeager on bass vocals.  Yeager will also present a personal memoir that evening.  Scott Umphrey will read a read a memoir titled “Lucky in Love.”  And Mark Pearce will be back with four poem-like numbers, “Everything,” “Back in the Day,” “Failed at Nothing,” and “Dreams along the Trail.”

Old Drum Open Mic takes place the first Thursday of each month.  The series is designed to develop the creative culture and artistry within the region.  Poets, authors, songwriters, composers, playwrights and comic artists are invited to unveil their works before an appreciative audience.  Those wanting to present can schedule through the Old Drum Open Mic Facebook page:
