The first Old Drum Open Mic in the new year is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Java Junction in downtown Warrensburg. The event is free and open to the public.

Presenters will include Andrew Cicle, who was born in Russia and came to the U.S. when he was 2 years old. Cicle will present a personal memoir titled “It’s My Life.” Crooner Phil Wagner will reprise a song from the American Civil War period. UCM alumnus Ryan McChesney will travel down from Kansas City to deliver a musical-comedy routine, and Aaron Conklin has two poems to share, “The Resistance is Green,” and “Song of the Autotelic Charlatans.”

Old Drum Open Mic takes place the first Thursday of every month. The series features poets, authors, songwriters, composers, playwrights and comic artists. Those who want to present can schedule through the Old Drum Open Mic Facebook page.
