Old Drum Open Mic
October 1, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Old Drum Open Mic is set for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Tranquility Shop, 128 N. Holden St. in downtown Warrensburg. The event is free and open to the public.
Writers and other artists from the area are invited to present their original works, such as songs, stories, poems, musical compositions, comic sketches, memoirs or other presentational works. Performance slots are 15 minutes or less and reservations can be made through the Old Drum Open Mic Facebook page. Walk-in performers can usually be accommodated.
The line-up for the Oct. 1 features: Gloria Brown presenting tunes accompanied by her ukulele; Henry Yeager presenting the personal memoir “People I Remember;” Scott Umphrey sharing another episode from his life’s sojourn; Jo Narron performing her song, “Tonight I’m Letting Go;” Mark Pearce presenting “Birds at Pertle’s Spring;” and Debbie Noland sharing four poems, two from her “Spider Voices” series, “Paean to the Sun,” modeled on “I Am the Autumnal Sun” by Henry David Thoreau, and “What the Spider Said,” modeled on a series of poems by Vachel Lindsay.
Old Drum Open Mic is held in Warrensburg the first Thursday of every month.
