The Veterans Assistance League will host its 13th annual Scramble for Freedom Golf Tournament on June 5 at Royal Oaks Golf Course at Whiteman Air Force Base. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

The format is four-man scramble and teams compete for cash prizes. The cost is $240 per team and includes lunch, cart and greens fees. The day’s events also include putting and closest-to-the-pin contests, as well as door prizes and raffles.

Corporate sponsorships cost $500 and hole sponsorships cost $200. Individuals, businesses and organizations are also invited to sponsor a golf cart in honor or in memory of their favorite veteran for $50. They may include a service photo of their veteran with this sponsorship.

All proceeds will go toward purchasing a new handicapped-accessible kneeling bus. This will allow staff to take veterans on a variety of outings.

MVH-Warrensburg is home to 200 veterans representing service in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Bosnia and peacetime operations.
