UCM’s Lifelong Learning Series presents “Electrifying Your Commute”

April 22, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The University of Central Missouri’s LifeLong Learning Series will host “Electrifying Your Commute,” a program and exhibition on Electric Cars from 2 to 6 p.m. Earth Day, April 22, at the Missouri Safety Center, located at 1200 S. Holden St.

The speaker for the event is Alexander Richards, assistant professor of automotive technology management at UCM, who will provide information about the current state of Electric (EV) and Hybrid Electric (HEV) vehicles, and discuss how our communities and world might benefit by using cleaner modes of daily transportation. Richards will also survey the electric options currently available, what to expect from a vehicle of this type and the differences in the operation of the car as compared to a “typical” automobile.

Richards obtained his master’s degree from the Workforce Education and Development department at Southern Illinois University (SIU), and his undergraduate degree in Automotive Technology. He serves as the faculty adviser for the UCM Automotive Club.

For more information, contact automotive specialist Alexander Richards at 660-543-8415, or event producer Mark Pearce at 660-747-2684.
