Veterans Day activities

The second annual Military and Veteran Appreciation Breakfast will be hosted by Sodexo in Ellis Dining Hall from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the University of Central Missouri. All UCM faculty, staff and students who are military service members and veterans will eat for free with appropriate military or veteran ID. The cost for all other guests is $4.99 per person.
The fourth annual Military Appreciation Blood Drive hosted by UCM Military and Veteran Services, ROTC, Wing It, Sodexo, Campus Activities, Student Veterans Organization and Student Military Combat Systems will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Elliott Union 238-240. All donors will receive free pizza and a coupon for a free taco. Appointments preferred but walk-ins are accepted. This year’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be hosted by Matthews-Crawford Legion Post 131, William A. Carleton VFW Post 2513, and UCM’s Office of Military and Veteran Services. The ceremony, recognizing World War II veterans, will begin at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post 131, 733 E. Young St. in Warrensburg. The keynote speaker is Brig. Gen. Paul W. Tibbets IV, the 509th Bomb Wing commander at Whiteman Air Force Base. Other ceremony participants will include Dr. Deborah Curtis, UCM provost and chief learning officer, UCM military and veteran services staff as well as members of Team Whiteman, the American Legion and VFW. The ceremony is open to the general public.
The Missouri Veterans Home-Warrensburg will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 3 p.m. at the Veterans Home on PCA Road. The keynote speaker is Col. Michael Pyburn, 131st Ops Group commander. The ceremony is open to the general public.
